My last post was 1 year ago today. It's been an eventful year, and one I'd like to not have to repeat again. Since this is my blog, and my space, I write what I want.
1. I met a friend of Jeremy's last night. She wanted to meet us. Her name is Sydney and she's from Maine. She's here in Utah for Massage Therapy school. She's a really nice girl and I was glad she wanted to meet us. We had a nice visit.
2. Jessica is very busy with school. I registered her for Utah Valley University Concurrent Enrollment (CE) Tuesday. She will get a UVU ID card and have some college benefits such as an academic counselor, access to the library, and so on. All this because she's taking a Chemistry class at the high school that can count as college credit. while she's in high school she can take CE classes tuition-free. I'm so not ready for this "college" milestone with my youngest. I thought I had a few more years.
3. I love hearing Jessica singing in the house. I love to hear her play our piano at all hours of the day. I love it when she sings in the basement...I can hear it everywhere. Since she's in Acapella, Encore (Show Choir), and Musical Theater I think I'll be hearing a LOT of music this year. She's been asked to sing at Stake YW Standard's night in a few weeks. She's a very talented girl.
4. Justin is working at Smith's Marketplace which is about 1 mile North of our home. Most of the time he's able to get a ride from someone. But it's also within walking distance too, if you consider the "hike" through the gully a "walk." For the most part he enjoys working at Smith's. I'm grateful when he has something to do. He also enjoys the weekly paychecks.
5. Chris had knee surgery on August 23rd. We had a long visit with the surgeon yesterday during our follow-up appointment. I think the surgeon and Chris were both surprised when I didn't freak when they drained 35cc's from his knee while we were there. I thought it was kind of cool and not in a tortuous kind of way. Afterwords, I went back to my "boring" desk job. Chris starts physical therapy today.
6. Our lawn has LOTS of weeds, which I hear is "normal" for a new hydroseeded lawn. A few weeks ago a neighbor told me it's not "hydro-seed." It's "Hydro-weed." I got a good laugh. Chris bought some weed-n-feed to put on the lawn. I hope it gets rid of those pesky weeds. It is nice to see green in the yard though. At first it was kind of "weird" but I decided I can get used to "weird."
7. I've been through a lot of changes at work in the past year. Mostly good. I've learned a LOT and have met a lot of new people. I enjoy being on our Emergency Response Team (ERT). I'm also the team-lead for the Emergency Evacuation team. We have daily check-ins and monthly training meetings. It's been a good group to work with. I'm studying for my ham license, and also tossing around the idea of starting an Independent Study class at BYU. Someday I will finish a bachelor's degree... once I decide what to do when I grow up.
Enough for now.

Busy year! I would have grossed out with the draining... Blech!
ReplyDeleteIt IS normal to have weeds in a hydro-seeded lawn. Nature of the beast. I wish I could remember how we got rid of our weeds. There's a niggling in the back of my head to be careful with new hydro seeded lawn and weed killer but I can't say for 100 percent certainty. Who did your lawn?
Good to see you posting again!

Thanks for sharing all the fun things your family is doing. It is nice to hear about them. I hope that Chris is doing better soon.
